Hello San Diego Community Co-Housing Folks!

Our next meeting will be Saturday, June 6th from 5:30 to 7:30. We will be meeting at an intentional community called Madrigal in the La Mesa area. Note that since this is a private residence. we will e-mail you the address and directions when you RSVP. Madrigal is the latest expression of community living, of one woman's 30 year quest for meaning in community. If car pooling, please be at our place before 5PM! See below.

This will be a pot luck event so please bring a dish to share with others.

We can car pool from our place for those that would like. Please let us know in advance, and we'll try to orchestrate rides. We would like to leave here soon after 5PM to arrive at Madrigal by 5:30.

We will also be discussing our adventures and visit to Yalupa. See our photos at Pictures of Yalupa

If for some reason you don't get the directions e-mail, ping me at davecoxhome@gmail.com or call 858-427-1600 (Barbara's office/our home line).

The San Diego Co-Housing and Intentional Community group will be meeting at People's Co-op in April.

We will be watching a documentary "Designing a Great Neighborhood" - a movie about co-housing. We will meet at 6:30 and enjoy their organic Deli, and then meet in the community room at 7PM.

Note, due to limited parking at the co-op, please do not park in their parking lot but rather find street parking during this event, to leave their lot free for their customers.

A special thanks to our gracious hosts at OB People's Market.

Hello Co-Housing Folks!

We will be continuing with planning for the co-housing project, reviewing financial questions and input, location options, and share our progress in looking for more Co-Housing group members, prospective investors, Realtors, and resources such as grants for renewable energy, urban re-use, etc.

The other agenda item is of course hanging out, eating great food, chatting and getting to know some really cool people!

This will be another pot-luck. Please bring a dish or drink to share.

Additoinally, this is a KID FRIENDLY event, so long as your kids are relatively self contained and play well with at least one other 5 Y/O - bring 'em on!

This meeting will start with a Pot-Luck dinner. Bring food or drink as the spirit moves you. We'll have some stuff to take up the slack.

For this meeting, we'll start getting down to the nuts and bolts of Co-Housing project planning:
1) Promoting the group for other individuals that might be interested in joining us in community
2) Locating potential investors
3) Looking for possible areas for construction - either new or re-use
4) Researching options for grants, tax credits or other forms of support for specific environmental or community applications i.e. Solar, Straw Bale, High Efficiency lighting, Land Re-use/conversion, recycled building materials, etc. This may come from local, state or federal government, individual grants, corporate endowments or other.
5) Identifying opportunities to promote the project -
a) Increase awareness in the community
b) Look for political support
c) Media/publicity - press releases, meet the press options
6) Identify possible developers
7) Gathering resources, information and options
8) Other important stuff that I'm forgetting... :)

Anything else that we can do to help make this a reality?

Hope to see you there, and spread the word!

If you can look at the files that Dave and Vipol posted ( 1. an outline of our vision for what the cohousing project will look like, we discussed this and introduced each other at the first mtg. 2. The financial questionnaire.)

Please bring the questionnaire with you, we will be discussing costs and investing options. We are also actively looking for a Realtor that will be able to provide support on this large project. I hope to be looking at properties each Friday. I will bring information from her on properties to the next mtg. I have an email into Yalupa cohousing to see if I can tour it soon and get info on their architectual plans (their main architect Micheal Black died in July and I emailed his firm to see if we can help carry on his great legacy by working with some of his colleagues using their original blueprints-still waiting to hear.)

The quickest way to reach me is by cell phone (858) 531-5310 or the best email to reach me at is: info@drcoxconsulting.com.

All the Best!
